Although the recommended protocol is that all senior citizens receive an annual flu shot, a former investigative journalist for CBS has discovered evidence suggesting flu shots are not doing any good.
Sharyl Attkisson believes the vaccinations may actually be costing the lives of some seniors.
Can the Flu Vaccine Do More Harm Than Good?
According to a JAMA study, from almost a decade ago, there was no improvement in mortality rates among senior citizens with a flu vaccine even after the vaccination rates increased. Peter Doshi, Ph.D, john Hopkins scientist, issued a report in the BMJ stating that the CDC policy of routinely recommending the flu vaccine is being based on, “low quality studies that do not substantiate claims.” Doshi suggests there is no evidence that the flu vaccination reduces deaths among senior citizens. In addition, Doshi cites and Australian study which found significant risks for children as well as stating that “One in every 110 children under the age of five had convulsions following vaccinations for H1N1 influenza in 2009.”
