By, now if have read any news related to the Gardasil vaccine, you should be beginning to understand the true dangers associated with the vaccine and its sugar-coated advertising by Merck. Because the realities of the shot have been so difficult to uncover by many, it has been difficult for many concerned parents to find the answers they are looking for. Dr. Diane Harper, a lead researcher in the development of both the Gardasil and Cervarix vaccines presented some pretty up-front and honest facts about the shot in October at the International Conference on Vaccination–shocking the medical world and leaving many believing that these vaccines are not as safe as they thought.
According to Dr. Harper, the director of the Gynecologic Cancer Prevention Group at the University of Missouri, the Gardasil vaccine actually does very little to lower cervical cancer rates. When compared to the benefits of regular screenings through the use of PAP smears and other basic prevention methods including regular check-ups and improved STD prevention practices, the rate of cervical cancer is dropping by 4% a year without the Gardasil vaccine. Dr. Harper stated that the rates of cervical cancer in the U.S. are already so low that even with the shot, at least 70% of all women would need to be vaccinated for any improvement and even that would be very minimal. She also pointed out that the majority of cervical cancer cases are in developing countries–not the U.S.
Even though Dr. Harper’s presentation was supposed to be in favor of the vaccine, many people who listened to her presentation walked away with concerns regarding the shot.
“I came away from the talk with the perception that the risk of adverse side effects is so much greater than the risk of cervical cancer, I couldn’t help but ask why we need the vaccine at all.” said the Assistant Editor for the Population Research Institute.
This seemed to be a common reaction among those attending. As the crowd began to murmur among themselves it was obvious that many questions were being raised about the usefulness and effectiveness of the Gardasil vaccine.
Furthermore, Dr. Harper went on to drop another shocking fact. The Gardasil vaccine has never been fully researched in regards to its use and safety in girls under age 15. Merck only studied a small group of girls less than 16 years old, but it was never for long enough to establish that HPV antibodies were present. Dr. Harper has been an outspoken opponent of certain aspects of the vaccine, she said in an interview as far back at 2007 that giving Gardasil to girls less than 11 years old is a “great big public health experiment.” An experiment that is being conducted free for Merck, and its taking the lives of many young girls.
Dr. Harper has taken a stand and is speaking out about the realities of the Gardasil vaccine, because, as she said it “I want to be able to sleep when I lay down at night.” Those are pretty strong words from a woman who was supposed to be reporting the positives. Her honesty is highly respected among much of the medical community.
